SCMPD’s Most Wanted in custody

A MAN accused of killing his own brother has been taken into custody by detectives with the SCMPD's violent crimes unit. Achmed Kiwaan Williams, 23, has been listed as SCMPD’s most wanted criminal since last summer.

Police received a tip that Williams was hiding out in a residence in the 600 block of Yamacraw. After his arrest, he was interviewed at police headquarters, then transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.

Williams is accused of shooting his 18-year-old brother, Alex Williams, on April 6. On that date, police were called to the 1200 block of East 54th Street, where they found Alex Williams suffering from a single gunshot wound.

He was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center, but died a short time later. SCMPD arrested Achmed Williams on an outstanding parole violation, believing he was a person of interest in the case, but he was released before the murder warrant was issued and went into hiding.
