"A Jazz Christmas" The Luna Lounge (inside this swanky Italian restaurant) puts a live spin on the longstanding tradition of merging yuletide melodies and mirth with the jazz and R & B idioms. Fri., 9:30 pm, Il Pasticcio. The Jeff Beasley Band Well-known rock & roll from the ‘50s, electric blues, and boogie music. Fri., 9 pm, Jazz’d Tapas Bar. Bottles & Cans Local outfit that straddles the line between Hellhound rock and gritty Delta blues. Fans of T-Model Ford, Hound Dog Taylor and late-period Tom Waits will find much to like about this stirring quartet. Fri. - Sat., 10 pm, Mercury Lounge. Chaos Inc. Young local rock band playing (mostly) instrumental, vaguely psychedelic jams. Thurs., 10 pm, Savannah Blues. The Courtenay Brothers Real-life siblings duetting on soft rock, country and pop hits. They both play acoustic guitar and employ sequenced backing tracks. Thurs., 6:30 pm, Baja Cantina (The Landings). The Alex Nguyen Quartet Young, award-winning Savannah trumpet prodigy – now studying music in Florida. Joined by vocalist Angela Roberts, guitarist Ryan Rosello, and bassist Paul Sikivie. Fri., 9 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park. G.E. Perry Longtime area guitarist known for his mastery of electric blues and jazz. Sometimes he’s accompanied by a harmonica player. Thurs., 10 pm, Molly MacPherson’s Scottish Pub. Phantom Wingo Fiery, Southern rock with more of an emphasis on improvisation and jamming (think Widespread Panic, Allmans) than on whistling and whiskey (don’t think Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws). Featuring guitarists Ronny Keel and Tyler Roe. Wed., 9 pm, Fiddler’s Crab House. The Round Table Local, guitar-based indie-rockers who disbanded soon after releasing their debut CD, but now play occasional live gigs. If Not Winter opens. Tues., 7 pm, Le Mort Rouge (103 W. Congress St.) - ALL AGES. Silver Lining Local trio playing jazz standards, fusion pieces and contemporary, funk-tinged pop (i.e., Diana Krall, Norah Jones). Sat., 9 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park. Southpaw Regional country quintet that’s”all tore up” with the honky tonk. The play popular covers by the likes of Tracy Byrd and Toby Keith. Fri., 9 pm, Tommy’s (Pooler). Jan Spillane Local songstress and guitarist who’s released two albums of original, blues-and soul-influenced tunes. Fri., 10 pm, Molly MacPherson’s Scottish Pub. The Peter Tavalin Ensemble Jazzy combo led by pianist Tavalin, who’s a well-known composer and music educator. Thurs., 8 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park. 16ail Thurmond A downtown fixture of sorts, this vibrant singing pianist has been playing jazzy standards and show tunes in this cozy darkwood bar for over a decade. Tues. - Sun., Planter’s Tavern (beneath The Olde Pink House Restaurant). Greg Williams Prolific, locally-based songwriter with a powerful voice and a handful of indie blues-rock and folk CDs to his name. recommended for fans of John Hiatt or Tom Petty. Thurs., 10 pm, Mercury Lounge + Fri., 10 pm, Jen’s & Friends. WormsLoew Young roots-rock locals, mixing covers from the Drive-By Truckers, Skynyrd and The Band with originals in a similar vein.
