Celtic rock band from Columbia, South carolina with an Appalachian twang. Fri., O’Connell’s Irish Pub.

Passafire

Underrated local groove band drawing on reggae, hip-hop and soul. They tour the region and deserve a large following here in town. Tues., Fiddler’s Crab House.

 

The Howard Paul Trio

Jazz from a respected seven-string guitarist. Fri., 9 pm, Jazz’d Tapas Bar.

Phantom Wingo

Intricate, occasionally dazzling jam band that’s more firmly rooted in incendiary blues than most of their ilk. Thurs., Savannah Blues.

The Rounders

‘70s -style outlaw country, with an authentic sound akin to David Allan Cole. With local opener Whiskey Dick, a solo songwriter cut form the same ragged, muddy cloth. Sat., The Jinx.

 

St. Somewhere

Rachael Sage

NYC indie artist who won the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and has toured with Ani DiFranco and played with Suzanne Vega and at Lilith Fair. Tennessee’s “funky-folk fusion” artist Brandy Robinson opens with a solo set that draws on hip-hop and pop. Sun., 8 pm, The Sentient Bean.

Shadow Boys

NYC act mixing Americana, tin pan alley, garage rock, blues, rockabilly and punk, with a humorous lyrical sensibility. Thurs., 8 pm, The Sentient Bean.
