Lollipop: New Paintings by Alexandro Santana

When: Fri., Sept. 13, 7 p.m. 2013

The word "palette" in some Spanish speaking countries means "lollipop". In all the regions of the Spanish speaking world the word "palette" means "artist's palette". The two words are synonyms, hence ambiguous as graphemes or words. This exhibition examines what happens to an image when it suffers this ambiguity of meaning, and/or originates from the multitextuality of bilingual thought processes. "Lollipop" provides painting as a viable medium for the representation of this type of cultural ambiguity. 30 percent of the sale of Santana's work will go towards the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids.

Price: Free to public
