When: Through April 25
In Lineaje II, Alexis Javier furthers his exploration of the contour line drawing technique wherein he uses one line to capture the features of his subject, only picking up his pen from the surface once the drawing is done. He also incorporates mixed media to create a layered effect, and will repeat smaller portraits within a larger portrait, all using one continuous line. These drawings explore the stories of lineage and ancestral knowledge, drawing out the energy each subject embodies. This collection features Savannahians that Alexis has connected with over the past 8 years. Portraits of special note are of Bobbi Perry, Michael Williams, Kim Evans and Niema Ross – artists and supporters of the arts that the Savannah community has lost in the last several years.
