"There was no way those who decry Beam's decision to "flesh out" the Iron & Wine sound - the passionate fans who've followed him for a decade - could have come away from Saturday's show at the Trustees Theater with anything less than awe."
Really? As a one of these decade long fans you mention, I can honestly say this performance was abysmal. Yes, it was technically sound, the musicians were talented, etc., but the music just didn't work. Perhaps I'm just a purist, but I left wanting my money back and mourning the neo-funk, late night lounge singer twist that was put on classics like "Sodom South Georgia" and "Sunset Soon Forgotten." I've never been more disappointed by a musician I love than I was last night.
