Hollow is a body of work that investigates society’s fragmented perception of women, as well as women’s distorted perception of themselves. For much of her life, Nora Harrison viewed her body as a hollow shell, allowing people to use her, and try to fill her, in an attempt to feel whole. As a woman, this left her with an estranged relationship with her body, which she explores in these paintings. Harrison’s hope is that her work can create intimate conversation amongst strangers.
