The focus will be on providing nutrition and wellness based activities for children and their families. Mercer University School of Medicine will provide free basic health screenings for patrons of the market. Medical students will also be on hand for a “teddy bear clinic," where children put on the traditional doctor’s lab coat and treat their animal patients for a variety of ailments. In addition to the clinic, children can also participant in a farmers’ market scavenger hunt complete with prizes, as well as other nutrition activities. Wholesome Wave Georgia will also help market shoppers determine if they are eligible for SNAP benefits and complete online applications.
