Film: Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff

The PFS screens the restored, uncensored print of this forgotten dramatic gem in honor of the 40th Anniversary of its original theatrical release in 1979. Based on the controversial novel of the same name, this indie film is set in rural, racially segregated 1956 Kansas, and is the intense and explicit tale of a middle-aged white female public school teacher who's never had a romantic relationship of any sort. When she is aggressively and secretly pursued by her school's black male custodian, it spurs a sexual awakening in her that's considered socially forbidden at that place and time -- and which threatens both her reputation and her job.
