Sat. Oct. 5, 12-4 PM at The Book Lady Bookstore, 6 E. Liberty Street. Local authors will be meeting, greeting and selling their books at The Book Lady's "Local Author Day". Free to attend. Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home 2013 Ashley and Terry Ursrey Memorial Lecture Series with Pulitzer Prize Winning author Robert Olen Butler

Fri. Oct. 11, 7 PM. Trinity United Methodist Church, 225 W. President Street. Free and Open to the Public. Butler's talk will immediately be followed by a reception and book-signing. This year's lecture is also funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts. Flannery O'Connor Peacock Party

Sat. Oct. 12, 6:30-9:30pm, 4 West Taylor Street. The evening will include a silent auction, live entertainment, delicious hors d'oeuvres and a full bar. Attendees are invited to dress as their favorite literary luminary. Pulitzer Prize winning author Robert Olen Butler will be a special guest. All proceeds will support ongoing programs and outreach initiatives at The Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home. $100 donation per person is requested.

Zhang, the author of Dream Variations: A Journey Across Two Continents, will share her childhood memories living through a turbulent China, including the Anti-Rightist Movement, Great Leap Forward, Three-Year Famine, and Cultural Revolution. Zhang teaches composition and literature at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Sun. Nov. 17th, 4pm at The Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home, 207 E. Charlton St. Free & Open to the public. Dasher,the executive director of Deep, a local nonprofit that teaches creative writing workshops in every middle school in the Chatham County School System, will discuss the organization's mission and successes, and several current Deep students will read from original stories, poems, and nonfiction that they created in the work- shop.
