Locals are familiar with the yearly "Kiss A Pig" campaigns to raise funds to fight diabetes.
One of this year's efforts — in the name of a bid by realtors Cora Bett Thomas and Austin Hill — breaks new ground in 'wow' factor.
As in, wow, that's a lot of zombies.
"We were casting about for a theme to this year's Kiss a Pig Campaign. We always try to engage, and be culturally relevant," says Maria Center, with the Southeast Georgia/Coastal South Carolina American Diabetes Association.
"One year when Pirates of the Caribbean was big, we did a 'Piglets of the Caribbean' theme, with the slogan 'Party like it's 1699.'"
So why zombies? You have to ask?!
"The first zombie flash mob was in Toronto in 2003. Zombies are now a global phenomenon," laughs Center. "People have theorized why: a feeling of powerlessness, economic upheaval, things like that."

"You know Savannah. Savannah loves anything quirky," says Center.
Creative Director Kevin Cartee promises a lot of surprises in the show, which we won't spoil for you here. But here's a hint: Tableau.
"The evening will be slightly interactive," laughs Cartee, who owns and operates Kevin Cartee Image Consultants.
"There will be some high-end, Titanic-style zombies sort of looking in on the action," he says.
One thing's for sure: it's horror for a good cause.
"Everyone who's heard about the campaign has cracked up. No one has said they can't believe we're using such a gory image to help fight a disease," says Center.
"The truth is that diabetes will kill you, plain and simple. We believe horror is appropriate for the message we're trying to convey."
Fashion Show attendees will experience a stroll through a faux cemetery, enjoying food and drink before the spooky evening of fashions by Bleu Belle Boutique, Red Clover, and Savannah Arts Academy Junk2Funk.
