Why is it too late to back out of the idiotic arena?

Did the Bay Street experiment cause any ACCIDENTS? I noticed decreased congestion, smoother movement of traffic, and I did not see any evidence of hindering walking traffic. Am I wrong for seeing what I thought to be a good idea? Were trucks allowed to travel during this experiment? If so, did this help with expediting their progress thereby moving them faster? This alone would seem to be a better elimination of the fumes lingering in the city. The street has always had ample room for the two lanes. Why jam it up with parking? I just always saw the added lanes as a better way to move the trucks through, as there doesn't seem to be an allowance to send them south to Derenne Ave. I thought the increase in speed amounted to less than 2 mph. Is that enough to hinder the walking traffic?
What was the purpose of the experiment anyway? What were they attempting to find out? Were there more cons than pros?
The problem with bicycle traffic on Bay street would be them having to stop at every corner for pedestrian traffic. From my experience, most bikers do not stop for the time for a light to change, most stop, then proceed through it. If they would obey the traffic light, then a bike lane would possibly work.
