The description of Amendment 1 in this editorial is very misleading. As it stands, there is no dedicated, reliable source of funding for conserving land or expanding parks and trails in this state. This amendment will fix that with no tax increase and no tampering by the legislature as Mr. Montoya incorrectly asserts. This is a constitutional amendment, the strongest legal language there can be. The author says this has "no teeth," but the opposite is true. A constitutional amendment, approved by voters, represents the biggest, sharpest teeth you could hope for. If you like clean air, clean water, places to hunt and fish and nice parks, vote YES on Amendment 1.
