‘Cuba:Habana Now’ -- The Opus Gallery and Elysium Gallery, both on Chippewa Square, will host this respective exhibition. Participating in the effort are local art dealers with Simon Bowden Galleries, local Cuban-American artist Julio GarciaÊand local film artist Clayton Haskell.Ê The exhibit opens to the public Tuesday, September 7 and will continue through October 9.Ê A reception will be held Thursday, September 16, from 7-10 p.m. at both locations.Ê



‘Is There a Doctor in the House?’ -- The Hospice Savannah will showcase artwork by area physicians September 1 through October 31 at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery. Meet many of the artists at the opening reception Thursday, September 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the gallery, located at 1352 Eisenhower Drive.

Artist/physicians include Miles "Chip" Goldsmith, MD; Preston Russell, MD; Carl Anderson, DDS; Marcelle Bernard MD; Bill Zorn, MD; and Roberta Smith, MD.



‘Rose Casterline: The Cloister Series’ -- SCADpresents this exhibition on the famous Cloister resort of Sea Island, Ga., through Sept. 27, at Pinnacle Gallery, 320 E. Liberty St. The exhibition is featured on the September gallery hop, Friday, Sept. 10, 5-7 p.m. The exhibition and gallery hop are free and open to the public. Each figurative work capturing the elegant atmosphere of the resort,

including social pleasures such as fine dining, dancing and other recreational activities.



‘99 Paintings of Paint on the Wall’ -- SCADpresents this exhibit of oil on canvas paintings by SCAD foundation studies professor Jeff Markowsky through Sept.20, at Bergen Hall Gallery, 101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The exhibition will be featured as part of the college’s monthly gallery hop, Friday, Sept. 3, 5-7 p.m. The exhibition and gallery hop are free and open to the public.



‘Jessice Schnebel:Glamour Incomplete’ -- SCAD presents this exhibition of large-scale, photorealistic oil-on-canvas paintings through Sept. 6, at Alexander Gallery inside Alexander Hall, 668 Indian St. The exhibition is free and open to the public.



‘La Flora: A Celebration of Signature Style’ -- SCADpresents this mixed-media

exploration of feminine artistic identity, through Oct. 3, at Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St. Free and open to the public. “La Flora” presents examples of feminine individual identity by SCAD faculty Katherine Sandoz and Amy Freeman; alumni Kara D’Angelo, Sarah Pulskamp McCarn, Suzanne Rader, Susan Laney and Katie Runnels; and internationally renowned artists Liliana Porter and Jenny Watson.



Carolyn Neely -- Work by this local artist can be seen through Sept. 15 at the Downtown Athletic Club at 1 E. Broughton St.
