Inspired by the current City Hall exhibition "Law’s Murphys: Works by Christopher Murphy, Jr. from the W. W. Law Art Collection," this talk with Telfair Museums curator Courtney McNeil will examine Murphy’s lengthy artistic engagement with the architecture and people of Savannah. The seven works in the exhibition will be placed in the broader context of Murphy’s life and career. The talk will also address how these works fit within the arts and preservation scene in Savannah in the 20th century and consider why they were acquired by noted historian and preservationist W. W. Law. Free, space limited, reservation required.
