Police investigators are searching for a man who stole a camera valued at $1000 from a church on March 6.

Just before 3 p.m. on March 6, "a church deacon was taking pictures of members at a church located on the 500 block of Hamilton Court, when he left his camera unattended," police say.

"When the deacon returned, his camera was missing. Ashton Gibbs, 26, a paid musician at the church, was last seen near the camera and had also left the scene. The next day, investigators learned that Gibbs pawned the camera at a local pawn shop."

Gibbs faces theft by taking and theft by conversion charges stemming from this incident. He is described as a black male of a dark brown complexion, weighing approximately 155 pounds and standing at five feet eleven inches tall.

Gibbs is known to frequent the Tatemville area.
