Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives have initiated an investigation into the death of an unidentified male whose body was found Sunday evening in a storm water canal near Truman Parkway and DeRenne Avenue.
Sunday, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Metro officers responded to the scene after citizens reported seeing what appeared to be a body in the canal. Preliminary investigation reveals no obvious signs of foul play.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
"Metro’s Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol and Forensics units responded to the scene. The Chatham County Coroner also responded," said Sonny Cohrs of the SCMPD Public Affairs Office.
The deceased is a white male in his early to late 50s. He was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt with a bull logo on the front and jeans.
