Man sought in Southside shooting

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s detectives made a second arrest Monday, for a shooting at a hotel on Savannah’s southside, leaving a final suspect at large.

Matthew Armstrong, 29, of Springfield, was arrested Monday by Statesboro Police. Torrence Veal, 25, of Milledgeville is sought by SCMPD. Investigators have linked both Armstrong and Veal to th e Sept. 20 shooting of 29-year-old, Paul Andrew Grause in a hotel parking lot on Stephenson Avenue. The shooting left Grause in critical condition.

Armstrong and Veal are charged with aggravated assault. Veal also will be charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Veal is described as a black male with a low haircut. Veal stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs roughly 135 pounds. He is believed to have ties to both Pooler and Ellabell.
