On Sunday, August 3, the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, which Flannery O'Connor attended as a child, will include a special Memorial Remembrance in honor of the 50th anniversary of O’Connor's death.
O'Connor was born in Savannah, Ga. on March 25, 1925 and is the author of the acclaimed novels
Wise Blood and
The Violent Bear It Away, as well as 32 short stories and numerous essays.
The Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home, 207 E. Charlton St., will host a reception immediately following the service. Admission to the Home will be waived from 1 to 4 p.m.
