Christmas eve shooting leaves one dead

Police are investigating a double shooting Christmas Eve that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Michael John Polite, 38, and Angela Johnson, 44, "were involved in a conversation with a man in an SUV near their residence on the 800 block of Elliott Street in west Savannah about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday," police say.

The man produced a weapon and fired, striking the two victims. Both were transported to Memorial University Medical Center where Polite died and Johnson was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.
