Murder, suicide possibly linked

Posted on Thu, Oct 24, 2013 at 11:09 AM

Detectives are looking into possible ties between a homicide on Savannah’s Southside and an attempted suicide in the Islands Precinct.

About 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the first block of North Parkwood Street, where they found Justin Baldwin, 24, of the 400 block of West Montgomery Cross Road suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center. His condition has not been released.

At 11:30 p.m. the same night, Southside Precinct officers responded to an apartment on the 400block of W. Montgomery Cross Road, where they discovered Jessica Nowell, 24, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound.

The two cases appear to be related.

SCMPD Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.
