Public safety roundtable is Wednesday

Posted on Mon, Jul 29, 2013 at 5:39 PM

Leaders from across the community will gather on Wednesday, July 31, to discuss public safety in Chatham County, identify gaps in the criminal justice system, and "begin the process for creating solutions," a City spokesman says.

The Public Safety Roundtable will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in the Civic Center Ballroom, and is open to the public.

The Roundtable will include the elected and appointed leadership of the City, County, and School System, as well as local law enforcement, court system, and parole and probation leaders. "The public was invited over the past three months to make written comments on public safety and offer suggestions using an online citizen input form," according to the City. "While time restrictions will not allow for general comments from the public on Wednesday, those 60 written comments will be presented to Roundtable participants."

The meeting will be taped and broadcast on Savannah Government Television.
