• Police were called to Sister’s Court apartments on East 37th Street by a woman “who was concerned about her male friend who she had not seen or been able to contact in the last couple of days.” No one answered the door and officers failed in their attempts to open the door, so the Savannah Fire Department was called to forcibly open it. Inside officers found a deceased adult black male in his 60s that had suffered “a number of distinct injuries.” At press time, officers had tentatively identified the man but were attempting to contact his family before releasing his name.



• A stolen vehicle was recovered at Harmond and Wheaton streets. An officer observed the driver run a stop sign. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot. He could be heard crashing through the woods nearby. A K-9 officer was used to find the suspect. A check of the

vehicle revealed it had been stolen.

• A man walking by an East River Street business observed that a window

had been broken out. Fearing that a burglary was in process, he called police then stayed to watch the window until officers arrived. Two officers searched the business, but found no one inside. The manager was contacted and came to check the building, but said nothing seemed to be out of place.



•A Yamacraw resident called police to report a man who was refusing to leave her porch. When police arrived, the man said he was just trying to get his things out of the apartment. When officers went inside, they observed the man strike another man in the residence. While they were arresting him, he also struck an officer.
