The Best of Savannah

Best Indie Film Venue

The Lucas Theatre

In the last year, The Lucas has blossomed into the gilded, old Savannah alternative to your high-dollar multiplex, creating the perfect weekend date night. With movie nights and weekend marathons, the historic theatre’s been bringing in both family favorites and cult classics (Halloween Movie Madness, which featured four movies in one day, ran the gamut of Hocus Pocus to a midnight screening of Evil Dead 2).

They’ve also teamed up with local organizations and efforts: Psychotronic Film Society’s screening of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, hosted at The Lucas, was a successful fundraiser for Keith Kozel’s kidney fund, and profits from July’s screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert will help fund a community center for LGBT organization First City Network.

And with this weekend’s Indiana Jones marathon, The Lucas certainly is the best INDY film venue, isn’t it?! (Save your eye rolls for when the house lights go down.)

Runner-up: Muse Arts Warehouse
