Jury duty scam alert!
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office "has once again received reports of phone scams being conducted in Chatham County," a spokesman says.
"The fraudulent caller identifies himself as Lt. James Hall and states a fine must be paid because of a missed jury summons and subsequent contempt of court fines. The caller will demand payments made on a Green dot or credit card."
The Chatham County Courthouse could possibly call about a jury summons "BUT WILL NEVER demand payment or ask for personal financial information. This incident underscores the need for individuals to remain vigilant about safeguarding against financial crimes."
If you experience this fraud attempt, hang up and contact the CCSO Criminal Investigation Division at 912-661-1692.
